In December I joined Swansea City AFC on a week long trip out to Mumbai, India for the Barclays Premier League Live event.
The Barclays Premier League Live event, in it’s second year in 2014 was held at the Burla Complex in Mumbai and was a 2 day festival full of football activities and fun! 8 Premier League Clubs were present at the festival, each having their own unique activites to attract the crowds to their clubs area including club legend such as Robbie Fowler, Emile Heskey, Peter Schimichael and many more!
Swansea City decided to take me along to the event along with club ambassador Lee Trundle – our theme was football freestyle & skills! Drawing in the crowds by the thousands to watch and have a go at some of the football skills for them self. We also had thousands of give aways such as t-shirts, balloons, flyers, key rings and swasnea city facepaints which were snapped up by everyone over the weekend event.
The highlight of the weekend event for myself was performing on the main stage, being one of the only performers actually performing at the event was a great opportunity for me to be seen and to attract even more people over to the Swansea City AFC area – which it did! After performing on the stage various times to thousands of people through out the weekend I proved to be quite a popular person for the Indian football fans and was swamped for pictures and autographs non stop! This was by far the most insane and overwhelming experience of my life!
During the days off in Mumbai we made time to travel around the city to some landmarks and popular areas such as The Gate of India, the beach and local markets – always with my ball in hand, we got out the cameras and I was off putting on freestyle shows for the indian public and drawing in the passers by whcih ont he beach even included a small monkey!
